Comment 163 for bug 84964

I think I may have the same problem, I have a HP Compaq nc8430 laptop (precise hw config at the end). I've been running 6.10 ok, but trying clean 7.04 install crashes with the following message:

No matter what resolutions I try or parameters added. ISOs've been md5 checked.

I've tried also the Alternate ISO: it installs (weird) but then it doesn't boot at all.
