When booting the system in about 70% of the cases the system locks up during the boot up splash screen.
If I switch to text console (F1) before the lockup occures it will show the following:
[17179605.640000] BUG: soft lockup detected on CPU#0!
No reaction after that. But as mentioned, there are chances that it comes up just fine.
I'm using linux-image-2.6.17-10-generic (which is a dependency of linux-686-smp). The lockup occured definitely with 2.6.17-8 and later. 2.6.17-7 seems to come up fine.
The computer is a Samsung Notebook R65 with Intel Pentium M Core Duo T2300.
