I am having the same problem with 19.04 and an Apple Magic Pad.
I have read in the links below that a solution would be to disable the config HID_BATTERY_STRENGTH. It says: "Rebuild the kernel with CONFIG_HID_BATTERY_STRENGTH=N and the issue disappears,
along with battery status reporting", but I have never built a kernel before...
