Not that I'm complaining, but I think the current situation is sub-optimal and there are a few ways to fix this in Ubuntu (i.e. not upstream):
1) wait until a rewrite is done, either for GNOME 2 or GNOME 3. This will take a long time to deliver.
2) Apply the patches available elsewhere
3) Fix the tool tip
As far as i'm concerned, even though I'd love to use this feature, either 2 or 3 would be just as acceptable and can be handled in Ubuntu, without waiting for upstream, to fix the user experience today.
