I can confirm this bug.

* Logitech MX310 (USB Mouse)
* Plugged in via active (powered) usb hub
* Chipset: nForce 4 Ultra
* Shotwell: 0.5.0+dfsg-1.1 (from ubuntu repos)
* Shotwell 0.7.2-1~lucid1 (from your repo)
* Ubuntu lucid amd64
* Yes, stops when shutting down shotwell
* Yes, same behaviour on any other port
