Hi. Fresh additional information.
Googling around i've stumbled in another bug which recalls this. Apparently lightdm is (occasionally) "killing himself".
Browsing the lightdm.log file i've found this:
[+03.05] Got signal 15 from process [the PID of lightdm itself!]

So lightdm is apparently killing himself.
