As mentioned in the commends of bug #1510899 the solution of supplying QT_GRAPHICSSYSTEM=native on the command line followed by keepassx "fixed" the issue temporarily.

> QT_GRAPHICSSYSTEM=native keepassx

Runs and renders it properly.
