Bug Description

Binary package hint: indicator-appmenu

vmware workstation (last version). Menu do not shows.
I know that vmware workstation is proprietary third-party application, but it is regular GTK-based application, so, i think, appmenu must work with it.

This is another "Me too" comment.

The only bit of info I can provide is that both the VMware Player as well as VMWare Workstation menu bar disappears, but the menu does not appear in the Appmenu Area.

Perhaps a quick fix would be do blacklist VMware, until a more permanent solution can be found, or at least keep the menu bar visible in VMware somehow.

To test that under Natty, you need to use the -k option (--no-kiosk-warning).

Using:

UBUNTU_MENUPROXY= vmplayer -k

one can see the menus that are absent of the global menubar.

It sounds like yet another example of dynamic menus causing appmenu-gtk some trouble when trying to convert items on the fly into dbusmenu properties.

I can confirm yet on 10.10, VMware Workstation 7.1.3 build-324285.

I do see the application indicator in the menu, but clicking (right or left) doesn't give any sort of menu with it.

Could you try if that's still an issue in the current natty version? Some issues have been fixed recently which could make this one work as well
