Comment 2 for bug 877909

FYI: after this bug report was generated, Ubuntu said the upgrade was
being aborted, and my system might be left in an unstable state.

Sure enough the screen had frozen.
I had to power off.
I was surprised to be greeted on restart with 11.10 start up screen.
Everything seems to be working.
I ran the Update Manager, and made sure everything was fine.
I haven't run Synaptic yet to check for broken packages.

I haven't added the other repositories I was using for Dropbox, Skype, etc.

Thanks in advance for working on this bug report and making Ubuntu
such great software.
(Though there are some pain points.)
I love being able to run my legacy hardware until it falls apart.
