I am not quite the same as I am not using Cryptography nor LVM volumes but in my case I am attempting to single boot a Macbook Pro using the uEFI x64 version of Ubuntu Studio from a 4G flash drive.
I choose the 'Something Else' option and attempt to create separate partitions for '/' and 'HOME' mount points; all seems well until the error "grub-efi-amd64-signed failed ...".
I have tried to create leading FAT32 partitions ahead of the OS space, all for naught.
If this bug report I'm adding too is too specific for "Created luks encrypted partition with LVM volumes in it" reasons I'll be looking for a more generic one to join.
