Ah, sorry. If you're talking about 1.2GB used on login then you must be talking about the virtual memory size. That's not real memory - only address space.

For actual memory allocations see the VmData field in /proc/PID/status.

I think it's probably safe to call this a duplicate of bug 1759497 then.
