Comment #40 explains and fixes the problem. The clipboard manager integrated in gnome-settings-daemon doesn't work correctly. When an application (like Opera or Skype) closes, it tries to get the clipboard content of those applications and crashes. Knowing this I could reproduce the crash any time.
Open Skype, copy something, close Skype, crash.
Disabling g-s-d's integrated clipboard-manager stops the crashes. If you need a clipboard manager you can try popular options like Parcellite or Diodon.
