I think that comment #82 by Aitor Guevara has solved my freezes too.

At least I've been without freezes for more than 50+ hours, after applying his very simple guidelines.

Let's hope that not much people has bought another computer thinking this was a hardware problem.

It works for me, although I have an Intel 3100 graphics card instead of an AMD one.
