The same behavior can also be produced when you press "CTRL+D" in firefox.

Way to reproduce :
1- open firefox
2- go to a webpage: http://launchpad.net/ (any have the same effect)
3- Press CTRL+D
4- do not close the bookmark page pop-up. It's not possible to lock the screen by waiting or pressing CTRL+L
