1.
I reproduced this bug retrying to install gstreamer0.10-ffmpeg, gstreamer0.10-fluendo-mp3 and gstreamer0.10-plugins-ugly from Rhythmbox. In the original description I wrote about a package installation through the Software Center, it is not required to reproduce the bug.

2.
If you unckeck gstreamer0.10-ffmpeg in the Rhythmbox codec install dialog, there is no crash.
