I have the same problem with my Sony Ericsson W710i and Intrepid but this bug was in the Ubuntu version 7.10 too. To copy files to phone i have used kbluetooth and that works.

Now in intrepid is the new KDE4 and the kbluetooth4 don't work so i am looking for a bugfix for gnome bluetooth-applet
