Re: NTFS files becoming 'public' when deleted. The NTFS file system does not recognise the concept of file ownership. So any file, no matter who 'owns' it, can be seen by all users if they know where to look. (I believe some windows versions have file ownership implemented from the operating system level, but this is of course meaningless if you're not running windows when you access the file.)
