Hmmm ... This certainly freed up the system, BUT the reinstalled flash player (in Lucid with Firefox as installed during upgrade) DOESN'T WORK. Furthermore myspace (which seems to have gone berserk) is STILL saying I need to update flash, despite my having just installed the latest from the adobe website.
Still trying ...
