DejaVu 2.5 has just been released,
http://dejavu.sourceforge.net/
which includes a workaround to fix the ligature/justified issue.

I verified that with Dapper Flight 6 (+all updates), DejaVu 2.5 can show http://www.gnome.org/~jamesh/firefox-ligature.html
without any problem.
