latest nightly and created a completely clean profile.
Select tabs opened from links is, by default, unchecked. This means they will
load in the background, without focus, as I suggested.
As I thought, aftering turning just this one option (Force links that open new
windows to open in -> a new tab) they loaded in the background. Indeed, the
same thing happened when I turned on "Open links from other applications in" ->
"a new tab of the most recent window". This is what I'm arguing against. I
would very much prefer the default be kept as unfocused for middle-clicking, but
if this is not an option I would prefer that the default for "Select tabs opened
from links" be changed to on.
So I'm not crazy. The default really is what I thought, and said, it is.
So my Grandmother argument... I've known grandmas who touched settings like
"single window mode", and didn't change other options (they didn't understand
what meant) like the highly confusing "Select tabs opened from links".
