+3 on being happy with open source drivers. This is for three machines with three with different ATI cards all running with open source drivers. Two which are no longer supported by fglrx and one which is. One (older) card is running Karmic and the other two are running Lucid. It's not that everything's perfect, but it's very good.
And it's possible that if it wasn't for ATI opening the specs to their cards it the open source drivers wouldn't be that good, so I'm going to stick to ATI in the future as well.
