Bug Description

Since I use Dapper I have a strange and senseless error, while I am working offline:

"Error while Pinging IMAP server imap4.vr.in-berlin.de.

You must be working online to complete this operation"

This error comes 5-10minutes after I go offline and then every X minutes (maybe 10 or 15minutes), after I click on ok.

I am working offline in evolution, because I don't have a network connection and I didn't want that evolution try to connect a server. Why evolution tries to "ping" an IMAP server, when I am offline. This seems to be a bug.

Upstream has not used that pach yet and dapper is frozen, marking as candidate for a dapper-updates upload when it's fixed upstream

fixed upstream, if the fix works fine we will evaluate backporting it for dapper (or updating to the new stable version with it)

This bug had disappeared for me until Lucid, but it came back with 10.10.
Was it patched or fixed accordingly ?

I can confirm that it has reappeared; I'm getting the error with evolution 2.28.3 and the default 10-minute refresh time for mail.

Confirm that the bug appears. Evolution 2.32.2 on 11.04/amd64. Can no longer fetch my email via IMAP.

Quick workaround that worked for me: remove $HOME/.evolution. This forced Evolution to sync the mails again including new ones.
