FWIW, that seems indeed to be the case. I switched over to Vivd, downloaded eclipse-subclipse and libsvnclientadapter-java, installed them, and after blowing away my local ~/.eclipse that seemed to be a bit confused, possibly from prior errors, everything was fine and svn seems to be working great.
