According to http://www.mjmwired.net/kernel/Documentation/iostats.txt, the information changed after 2.6.24:

  "There are only *four* fields available for partitions on 2.6 machines."
  "In 2.6.25, the full statistic set is again available for partitions and disk and partition statistics are consistent again."

This might explain the difference between Hardy (2.6.24) and the rest (2.6.27 and later).
