It seems that the solution is

cancel -a
lpadmin -p 'HP-LaserJet-5100-Series' -R usb-unidir-default
lpadmin -p 'HP-LaserJet-5100-Series' -o usb-no-reattach-default=true

please run more tests in this mode and keep it for the time being.

Please tell if it really solves your problem.
