Blacklisted usblp as instructed above. This appears to be successful. I can't be 100% certain, as the problem was intermittent, but it has not reappeared after several tests.

Should I undo the blacklisting, since it worked? What is the advantage of using the updated CUPS package instead? Or will this update make it into the main repositories at some time?
