From the discussion with upsptream it became clear that blkid's current behaviour is considered "correct", and that trying to choose between several signatures is a dangerous trait that shouldn't be kept any more.
So from the recent discussion I think that we should modify cryptsetup and its initramfs scripts accordingly (which might include shipping additional udev rules).
