boincmgr and boinccmd fail to authenticate - looking in wrong place

Note: I marked this bug as also affecting Debian, but I haven't reported it separately to Debian bug tracker.

Another confused user:

<PovAddict> then cd to /var/lib/boinc-client, and run boincmgr

<MTughan> That file is where the boinc daemon looks for a connection password. The manager should pick it up automatically, but it only searches for the file in the current directory.
<MTughan> Hence why the manager has to/should be run from /var/lib/boinc-client.

Status changed to 'Confirmed' because the bug affects multiple users.

I made a patch for fixing this bug, basically I added "/var/lib/boinc-client" to common-defs.h file.

So now when you fopen the path should make boinc point to the right file, could you (when the build will be successful) try this version?
boinc - 7.0.47+dfsg-0~1007 in my ppa

this version should fix this long stading bug

I haven't tried 7.0.47 yet but can confirm 7.0.45 boincmgr won't connect to
boinc-client unless boincmgr is called from the desktop environment. Will
try 7.0.47 soon

boinc is still "Waiting to build", please test revision 1007 asap (I'll test it too)

Thanks for all your work locutus. I think most ubuntu based seti ppl are
using your ppas at this point. It means alot to me and is appreciated.

Please try this ppa and boinc 7.8.1, and let me know if the problem still occurs by setting back the status to "new"
