Thanks for your report. I'd need more information to fix it. Have you tried different Real names, i.e. do some characters trigger the problem, and others not? Did you try changing the Real name of several users (e.g. create a test user and try changing its Real name)?

If none of those tests bring more information, please run:
sudo killall /usr/bin/perl
sudo /usr/share/system-tools-backends-2.0/scripts/SystemToolsBackends.pl -m UsersConfig --platform ubuntu-8.04 -v

and reproduce the procedure without stopping the program. Then please attach the output here. Thanks!
