Workaround: edit the /usr/share/accounts/providers/facebook.provider file and add the following line along the other settings:

<setting name="AllowedSchemes" type="as">['https','http']</setting>

Then restart the session and it should work.
Note however that this exposes your desktop to some security risks, so please use it only if you are connected to a trusted network.
