Apologies in advance, but doesn't discussion of how upstream and downstream projects communicate belong elsewhere?
Don't get me wrong, I'm not criticizing, in fact one of the reasons I failed to test abiword properly in Precise was due to the amount of time I was devoting to mailing lists.
We know devs seldom spend time at the forums and the reason is obvious; if they spend too much time at a forum or on a mailing list they have no time to develop :^(
I notice with the forums shifting more and more how-to's to the wiki it further complicates communication, but that's not what this bug report is about!
We need to focus on the most sane way of getting a stable 'abiword' into Precise which is an LTS :^)
