If you're having kernel hard locks, that's a completely different bug from this. I recommend opening a new bug, and providing the standard kernel information (lspci -vvnn, dmesg, etc.) Boot in recovery mode and see if you can see anything when it locks.

Have you tried 2.6.22-13? orinoco_cs is in that kernel, so this bug is essentially fixed.
