Bug Description

Not sure if it's related to bug 1342924 (as far as I can tell, it isn't), and if "deparments" is the right name for them, but neither the deparment names ("Universal access", "Office", "Themes & Tweaks", etc.) nor any of the associated sections ("Top Apps", "Top Games", "Travel Apps", etc.) appear to be translatable.

All these names are coming from the server and are based on the locale that are passed with each query. All translations will be kept on the server (they currently only handle EN afaik). The only department name that's kept client side is "All departments", and it should be translatable.

I know that there's work being done server side about this; I'm adding click-package-index and James to this bug about that.

James, now that the bug has been committed, where can translators submit translations for the department names? Can we use Launchpad Translations as the rest of the phone packages? I'd be more than happy to help setting that up.

I identified a bug in the current implementation, that cuold lead to incorrect translations being delivered to clients. Some work is being done to restructure our data, and when that's complete the translation code will be reworked.

David, the translations used for Departments are managed in Developer Portal, and currently require admin access to be modified. I don't know enough about Launchpad Translations and the exact workings of devportal at this point to say whether or not that could be made to work. In the meantime, you can see the list of Departments at https://myapps.developer.ubuntu.com/dev/api/
