The problem is that one often has to wait a long long time to be approved for the ~ubuntu-wiki-editors team (I had to wait), while the wiki page says "a confirmation email will be sent in approximately 1-7 days". Have a look now, 49 applicants pending going back many months, and the last one approved was about 8 days ago (admittedly, probably only 2 of the 4 applications since then should be approved, and both of those applications are only hours old).
Anyway, if it helps (which it probably doesn't, as I do not know that the list admins get e-mails from this bug report) and if I am allowed, I'll vouch for bodhi.
@bodhi: There was no choice, but to add this extra level, as bad guys were creating havoc on the wiki pages. Please be patient.
