this is not a bug, it's a feature.

We are no longer using that list as it was decided to use the existing
<email address hidden> list instead.

so in simple terms that is because the list is moderated some receive the mail and some don't

I believe the official mailing list should be
<email address hidden>, not
<email address hidden>.

I agree but when someone subscribes
since this is not an open team.
A mail is sent to an admin of the list.
if the admin of the list does not approve

The mailing list link should be changed
and
the mail list should be updated to reflect
the new member
This currently requires a member to
subscribe in two places for one Team.

And in short since it makes it more difficult
for the new user.

Only so many people have admin capabilties
on these lists but does not mailman make it so
admins can import the list by subscribing one list
to the other and importing the contacts because I
can send mail to the list w/ no error so it is still there

I believe we are all in agreement of the list to use but the
launchpad page for the Team should reflect that

I the mailman list subscription is what is used
Then the button to send email to team should be redone
Just because we are aware of this would not mean that
situations where someone attempting to contact team would be
easily missed simply because the link were not updated

Everyone is assuming that we know but
the passer by is not going to know this conversation.

How would they have any clue?

If we stop using it, there wouldn't be any confusion, the "texasteam" project really needs to be disbanded, that would kill a ton of the confusion. keep the "team", and kill the project. Then have it clearly stated in our central info location (the wiki), that our mailing list is ubuntu-us-tx (which it does, in fact).

As for mailing lists on launchpad, we're working to have that removed, it's currently "disabled". However, on https://launchpad.net/~texasteam, clicking "contact this team's members", does not use a mailing list, it contacts all of the members of the LoCo Team, subscribed or not. So even if we deactivate the list, that link will still be there.

Bugs are also independent of the mailing list, it simply sends the bug to all subscribers of a project. That is why I say we should kill the "project", so there wouldn't be any more "[BUG] discussions, or "Blueprint" updates (which are really bad for discussion anyways).

I would not suggest that we abandon the project simply because a link needs removed
what may work on the mail from bug reports is to to change the maintainer or driver
(don't know)
I believe that if the maintainer or driver are changed then the notify is changed

This was discussed on IRC yesterday also.

I am going to add affect launchpad because it
is undetermined if admin can do this.

For anyone interested, https://bugs.edge.launchpad.net/launchpad/+bug/493760 says that a launchpad question is the right way to do this.

In order to remove a mailing list the question must be asked to launchpad itself
