Shotwell needs keyboard shortcut for selecting camera

Today Shotwell doesn't have any keyboard shortcuts for jumping to a sidebar item. If we were to implement this, I feel we should at least consider other sidebar items as well.

Also, since it's possible for multiple cameras to be attached at the same time, we would need to offer some coherent way to get to all of them.

Do you have a proposal here, i.e. a particular keystroke you have in mind, or some scheme that would answer the above issues?

@Jim, your reasoning on multiple cameras is a good one against having a keyboard shortcut. Perhaps a devices menu that is populated with connected devices allowing you to select one? In general, getting some other access besides merely selecting the item in the sidebar via mouse click would be a welcome addition.

As mentioned, specifically we've done some work with shotwell in an attempt to have some automated tests for it using autopilot. These tests utilize umockdev to create a fake camera device with photos to help test shotwell's features. The trouble lies in being able to select the 'camera' device in an automated way because of how introspection works with gtk.

From a user perspective, I also find the sidebar a bit unintuitive at times because I don't get a context menu via right click (but maybe that's just me :- ))

As far as context menus, the problem is that *some* of the sidebar items have context menus and some don't, which does cause confusion. I've ticketed that as well: http://redmine.yorba.org/issues/6615
