I can think of a few other use cases for this feature
a. Removing accounts when you're not interested in what they have to say (like the live event scenario I originally posted)
1. Tweets by trains / air / travel accounts which you might only be interested in on days you are travelling
2. Tweets by people who only have things of interest to you at specific times of year - for example christmas or during an annual conference / expo
Basically it allows you to keep following these accounts all the time but not have their tweets clog up your timeline when you are not interested.
b. Splitting off special interests from your general timeline
1. So if you're interested in a specifc sport/band/hobby you can split off all the tweets by accounts dedicated to that interest or who you only follow because they are also interested - they get their own timeline and they don't appear in the main one.
