I resolved my immediate issue with the following:
cd /usr/lib64 ln -s libssl.so libssl.so.6 ln -s libcrypto.so libcrypto.so.6
[root@stage-db ~]# cat /etc/redhat-release CentOS release 6.5 (Final)
