Comment 1 for bug 538079

I think it would be most suitable to add this as part of the Sphinx integration with MariaDB 5.2

We've looked at adding various UDFs to 5.0 but just haven't got round to it - building/including UDFs can be finicky on different platforms. Since 5.0 is now "old", it makes most sense to -if someone is going to spend the effort- focus on the new versions.
