I'm having this issue with Lucid too.
Not sure what the server setup is (because it belongs to work). As noted it only seems to be files opening with OpenOffice, other files (such as .jpg) open fine.

As a workaround I can copy the files to my local machine, edit and copy back but it's not ideal.
