I can confirm this bug in OOo 3.1 as installed in Kubuntu 9.10.
Unlike yesint, this was a showstopper for the pilot program in the Chemical Engineering lab and could not be resolved using VMWare. I have a lab of 8 computers waiting for this bug to be fixed before they can be upgraded to Kubuntu from Windows NT.
