So how will a contact ever have two different VAT codes depending on which its companies you are considering?
Is that some quantum magic module?
I'm not a big fan of "heisenbugs" myself.

Come one, let's be honest about all that: OpenERP SA didn't plan it and you are now dealing with the urgency after we discovered the issues. But I claim that the best solution and the simpler isn't just copying data on the surface to hide issues.
