As a suggestion to move forward on this discussion, a side-by-side comparison of the logical and physical data model of version 6.1 and version 7 would be extremely helpful.
Maybe this documentation exists already somewhere, so my apologies in advance, should I have missed it.
(SQL Power Architect is an excellent open source tool for such a purpose for example.)
Call me old-fashioned, but coming from a Business Intelligence background, I found this approach the most rewarding.
That would give us as partners as well as maintainers / creators of modules the chance to get a far clearer picture.
