Thanks Sven for reporting the bug.
It is a configuration problem which in old installations must be corrected locally on a phone. You can change the Google News URL as explained here: https://bugs.launchpad.net/my-webapp-group/+bug/1500153 or delete the current Google News config and download the news.google.de from Repository.
Yet an other alternative way to persist your Google News edition:
1) Open Google News on your app
2) Click three dots on the upper right corner
3) Choose "Change edition..." from menu and select your Google News edition
4) Swipe over radial edge button and click bookmark icon
5) from popup menu click the "website homepage" button in order to persist your configuration
Solution of the bug: 'My News Apps' has locale specific app configuration which will be loaded to phone at installation time. For the most used configurations Google News URL has been changed... for example news.google.de for DE, news.google.fr for FR, news.google.it for IT etc.
