Bug Description
Leaving the application menu up will prevent the screen saver from activating. Sort of. The timer has expired, but the screensaver does not activate. As soon as the menu goes away, the screensaver will run. Other applets may also cause this.
System: Linux Mint 17 (RC) 64-bit
1. Open the Power Management page in Cinnamon Settings
2. Set "Start the screensaver when inactive for" to the lowest setting (5 minutes)
3. Open the Menu applet.
4. Wait long enough for the screensaver to activate.
5. Launch a new app.
6. Observe the screensaver kicking in.
7. Unlock the screensaver.
8. Observe the app launched in #5 running.
Expected behavior:
The screensaver should activate at the selected time.

Same goes with the Sound applet in Mint 17.3. Applet also blocks Ctrl-Alt-L (and other Ctrl-Alt combos as well).
Use case:
1. Listen to music.
2. Pause music from Sound applet and leave computer.
3. Applet stays open and screen lock does not activate whether Ctrl-Alt-L was pressed or not
- Other applets behave similar way as well.
- Looks like screensaver and screen locking is activated or computer left unlocked randomly when applet loses focus (6 in original report).
