Same problem, running mint 17.2. Essentially, Nemo thinks any USB drive I plug in is read only, regardless of reformatting. However, I can cp from the command line just fine.

While this is a perfectly acceptable workaround, this should be considered a serious problem for the Mint / Ubuntu team. There are already tons of posts about this all over the web, many of them claiming (erroneously) that the drives must have failed, that they need to be formatted, that users should try all sorts of different solutions, etc. If we're going to sell the operating system as "easy, free, and open source" users need to be able to use their flash drives and USB hard-drives without having to resort to the command line. Otherwise, why have the pretty gui and file browser to begin with?
