It has stopped working for me "I am now able to write to a USB stick after installing kernel 3.13.0-36 ". It must have been some updates that bought back the bug. In that comment #16, I had just reinstalled Linux Mint 17 and updated the kernel because I tried PCBSD and PCLinux.
