The issue still exists in Ubuntu Natty. In my case, is caused by a USB webcam. If I unplug it and plug it again, the system starts without any problems.
There should be a way to ignore those errors and allow the system to continue detecting other usb devices like the keyboard and mouse instead of waiting it to reach the timeout.
