Bug Description
BACKGROUND: Running Fedora 17 on 64bit machine with all updates, incl: kernel 3.8.12-
PROBLEM: so far, my only concern is that the sound levels are all screwed up - specifically, they are way too loud, as in: maxed out.
Sometimes, they drop to almost zero without any obvious cause. When this plugin (i.e. lightspark) is playing in this browser (i.e. Firebox), I have very limited control over any of the level settings (i.e. the standard "volume" slider in the video window in Firefox plus the "Master", "PCM", and "Front" volume controls in the Alsa Mixer panel)!?!
Obviously, this plugin has access to the 'channels' or 'ports' of the mixer program but it is as if lightspark doesn't recognize the current settings and/or uses values for some of those 'channels' which are out-of-range or change at random.
SITUATION: I like lightspark and am very glad to have an Adobe Flash alternative! It plays most videos I've tried to access (30+) and seems to render them without errors on my system! At this time, I am still testing it.
Unfortunately, the unpredictable sound levels and, especially, the too loud (saturated) sound levels render it almost unusable. Is there some configuration setting I'm missing or are there additional plugin(s) I should remove?
I can provide additional details or (if you tell me what to capture and report) logs, error codes, etc.
Thanks, Jim Oliver
I guess that you are using Alsa and not pure pulseaudio? Are the sound levels wrong every time or only occasionally? Do sliders in the Alsa mixer panel move when you begin to play a video in Lightspark?
Even on pulseaudio I sometimes see some erratic volume changes. The master volume sometimes jumps to 200% or even larger values when I open a video on Youtube. This doesn't happen on every video, though. There is probably something broken in the way Lightspark changes the volume.
