I'm also having this problem. Fresh install of Ubuntu 10.04 on a Thinkpad T410s. Freshly apt-get upgraded.
Purchasing any music requires me to restart Rhythmbox twice.
I find an album I want to buy, click 'checkout'. Then I get a message saying "Connecting to Ubuntu One music store". This message persists and I am unable to get rid of it except by closing Rhythmbox altogether.
After restarting Rhythmbox, I go back to the album, click 'checkout' again. This time, it figures out that I'm already logged into Ubuntu One and allows me to verify my credit card. After my purchase, I can see the list of songs with the download icon on the right of each song. When I try to download a song, I get the message:
"Internet connection is required to access the music store
Please connect and reload."
No matter how much I reload, nothing changes. I definitely have a route to the Internet.
From here, I close Rhythmbox again. restart it again, navigate to 'My Downloads' under the Ubuntu One store. Now, I can see a list of my newly purchased songs with a 'queued' message on the right with a swirling circle.
Then they start downloading. Then everything is fine. If there's any more info you require, or if you want some logs or a trace, please let me know.
